HERO NAG AGAIN DEVOTIONAL

STEP

EVERGREEN IN TOLLYWOOD ON SCREEN

Om Namo Venkatesaya is the biopic of ‘Hathiram Bhavaji’, a North Indian Saint who visited South India in 1500 CE (Common Era of Civilization). In his expeditions around the world to find peace, he visits ‘Tirumala’ and becomes an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara. Impressed by his devotion, Lord Venkateswara used to come to play dice with Hathiram daily in his temple. One Day, Lord Venkateswara gets late playing dice and leaves in a hurry leaving his ornament behind which also gets missed on his statue. The trustees of the temple doubt it on Hathiram Bhavaji and take him to King’s court. The King in returns gives a punishment and Hathiram is faced with the danger of death. What happens next? and Will Lord Venkateswara come to save Hathiram? forms the rest of the story.

Director K.Raghavendra Rao sticks to the core devotional point. Devotee Hathiram’s story doesn’t have Sri Ramadasu like arresting conflict point, nor Annamayya’s like emotional outbursts … yet in this film, the director manages to get our attention.First half of the movie is backed by 4 superb songs, while second half is better with core story and the climax is emotional..Akkineni Nagarjuna is a master when it comes to doing devotional films. Om Namo Venkatesaya has loads of senior and junior actors but when you walk out of the theater you would only remember Nag for his performance.
In the film, we can see Nagarjuna Akkineni as Hathiram Bhavaji, Anushka Shetty as Krishnamma, Pragya Jaiswal, Jagapathi Babu, Saurabh Raj Jain, Brahmanandam, Aditya Menon, Rao Ramesh, Raghu Babu, Prithviraj, Vimala Raman, Ashmitha in supporting roles
Overall, Raghavendra Rao unveils the story of Hathi Ram Baba in a way that is very commercial and easily understood to all. Om Namo Venkatesaya is a decent one time watch for devotional movie lovers.
